Palmer & Wallace Insurance Brokerage is a boutique insurance agency owned and operated by the principles of the firm and focused on providing technical risk advice and insurance placements for small to medium sized businesses. The partners in Palmer & Wallace have grown up in the Global Brokerage world and have witnessed how smaller businesses who need specialized risk management assistance are not receiving the attention and service they deserve. Our focus is to be able to deliver the technical knowledge and expertise of a National Brokerage house to clients who do not meet the big broker threshold. When you work with Palmer & Wallace, you are working with the owners, and we pledge to always treat our clients and prospective clients as if they are our only client. We are a young organization, but we have many years of experience placing insurance and providing risk management advice for some of the largest organizations in our region. Jack Wallace has been in the Nashville insurance agency/ brokerage community for 37 years and is extremely excited to be part of a new venture not constricted by bureaucracy, with the freedom to always do what is best for the customer. His family has been involved in legacy Nashville agencies for over 75 years.

New to Nashville, Wallace successfully built up his office and was recognized as a “Rising Star” at his prior employer. Both Partners are excited to be able to provide the attention and resources that our targeted businesses require in today’s complex world.
Our experience in numerous industries provides a platform to understand our clients’ issues and risk profiles and tailor solutions that many similar size agencies have never encountered. Wallace Palmer is a founding partner of Palmer & Wallace Insurance Brokerage LLC.
A native of Augusta, Georgia, Wallace, has been active in the insurance brokerage industry for the past ten years. After graduating from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, Wallace went to work for Hull Property Group, one of the largest privately owned retail real estate companies in the United States. Following his time at Hull Property Group, he decided to pursue a career in insurance and found his calling. Wallace’s start in the insurance industry began at Highsmith Insurance, a locally owned boutique insurance agency based in Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2014, Highsmith tasked Wallace with expanding its operations to Nashville, where he grew and managed the Nashville branch until 2018, when Highsmith was acquired by Marsh McLennan. Since 2018, Wallace has headed Marsh McLennan’s Agency Nashville operations, dedicating his time to producing and servicing a diverse clientele while expanding the agency’s operation to small and mid-size businesses.
Wallace specializes in Real Estate, Construction and Professional Services, with an emphasis on always putting his clients first. His enjoyment in meeting new people, learning the nuances of each business and helping protect their assets is what motivates him. Working as part of a very large organization has been a great learning experience, but the opportunity to get back to an entrepreneurial and client-first focus is why he is a founder of Palmer & Wallace Insurance Brokerage LLC.
Mary Kate Graves grew up in Birmingham and moved to Nashville upon her graduation from the University of Mississippi. After spending five years at the specialty insurance brokerage firm AMWINS she is excited to join the entrepreneurial Palmer & Wallace Insurance Brokerage. Her involvement in placing and servicing numerous unique risks and mastering the agency technology puts her in an excellent position to play a key role in the company’s success. Mary Kate had day to day customer contact that involved service responsibilities and negotiating with underwriters on securing the best terms and conditions. She has a similar role at Palmer & Wallace and will be part of the very hands-on service model we offer our business partners. Mary Kate is not only great to work with, she is also a student of the business with several industry designations and is involved in local chapters for young professionals.
Bob Pugh is one of the most experienced and respected Risk Management professionals in the Southeast and Palmer& Wallace are pleased to make Bob available as a consultant for projects on an as- needed basis. Bob has been part of the Nashville Insurance community for over 40 years and has provided tremendous experience in helping organizations reduce their exposures to risk and manage claims cost. Bob started his career as an underwriter, moved into a formal Risk Management role for a large chemical company, then transitioned to a risk consultant role for clients of Willis for several years. Starting in 1999, Bob took over the role of Director of Risk Management for Dollar General Corporation and helped reduce their cost of risk by 34% by implementing new safety protocols and aggressively managing claim cost once they occurred. His workplace safety initiatives were the foundation of the current program in place today for this growing merchandiser.
Bob moved to Tuscaloosa, AL to take on the role of Director of Risk Management and Special Projects at the University of Alabama in 2007 and retired from that position recently. Bob’s accomplishments at Alabama included reducing operating expenses around self-administered workers comp. He focused on opportunities to identify risk exposure that could be either eliminated by contracts or by partnering with entities that would take ownership in improving safety. The safety projects included student activities, vendor management and return to work requirements as well as driver training and selection. These efforts resulted in a drop of 22% in overall risk management cost over a five-year period. Bob is excited to get involved on assignments with the specific objectives that fit his extensive skill set.
